Forest Rangers Bid Farewell to ABSA Cup Winning Chairman

In a recent announcement, Zambia Forestry and Forest Industries Corporation (ZAFFICO PLC), the sponsors of Forest Rangers, have made significant changes to the club's executive team.

The news was revealed by ZAFFICO's public relations manager, Ireen Chipili, in a statement released on Monday.

The corporation has promoted Mulawo Mwaba, previously the corporation secretary, to the esteemed position of chairman, replacing the outgoing Ray Mumba. Mwaba had previously served as Mumba's deputy, demonstrating his capabilities and dedication to the club.

Additionally, the new executive team includes Manyani Mwandila as treasurer, along with committee members Adamson Sakala, Kondwani Kanyika, and Nawa Nyambe. Notably, Nyambe has been appointed as a consultant to the club, bringing his expertise to further enhance its operations.

On the other hand, ZAFFICO has decided to retain the services of secretary Wisdom Musonda, vice secretary Nixon Mwansa, and committee members Lwimba Mulombwa and Ruth Chipasha. These individuals have played vital roles in the club's previous success and will continue their contributions in the coming years.

The newly appointed executives are expected to serve Forest Rangers for the next four years, during which they will be entrusted with the responsibility of driving the club's performance to new heights. Mundia Mundia, the managing director of ZAFFICO and also the club patron, has urged the new executive team to remain committed and steadfast in their pursuit of excellence.

Mundia expressed gratitude to the outgoing executive members, led by Ray Mumba, for their dedicated service to the club. Mumba, who served as chairman for 16 months, spearheaded several significant achievements during his tenure. Under his leadership, Forest Rangers secured the services of coach Ian Bakala and his assistant Kennedy Kashobondo, bolstering the team's performance. Mumba also played a crucial role in facilitating Forest Rangers' return to their traditional home, Dola Hill Ground, after a prolonged seven-year absence. Furthermore, he led the team to their inaugural ABSA Cup triumph last season.

Another notable accomplishment during Mumba's chairmanship was the introduction of the iconic Umbro jersey, which has become a distinguishing feature among teams in the Super League.

With the new executive team now in place, Forest Rangers are poised to embark on a new chapter filled with determination and aspirations for continued success. The club's sponsors, ZAFFICO, remain committed to supporting the team's endeavors, ensuring its growth and prominence within Zambian football.
